Trump Administration’s Korean Nuclear Crisis Management and Prospects for Solution

date: 2021-04-09 09:22 click:

The 2017 North Korean nuclear crisis was essentially a crisis brought about by the Trump administration's brinkmanship, which used extreme pressure to make North Korea choose between war and concessions to promote the denuclearization of the peninsula. However, the Trump administration's crisis management of the North Korean nuclear issue has stalled negotiations due to North Korea's diplomatic hedging, domestic political constraints in the United States, and lack of international cooperation, and there is even a debate in the United States about whether North Korea will acquiesce in nuclear weapons. If it is to truly promote substantial progress in the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, the Trump administration's realistic plan is still to set limited goals, and the United Nations Security Council will formulate reversible clauses to restrain the behavior of the United States and North Korea in not honoring its commitments, reduce the negative impact of the lack of mutual trust between the United States and North Korea with the guarantee of the international community, and accelerate the peace process of denuclearization of the peninsula.
