On August 27th, the first high-end forum on Northeast China and Northeast Asia, hosted by the Institute For Northeast China and Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University (JLU), and the Office of Humanities and Social Sciences Research of JLU and co-organized by the Northeast Asian Studies College of JLU and the Northeast Asian Research Center of JLU, was held in Changchun.
Attendees to the opening ceremony included Xing Guangcheng, Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Head of the Institute of Chinese Borderland Studies, CASS, Jin Fanghua, secretary of the Leading Party Members Group of the Tianjin Academy of Social Sciences (TASS) and President of the TASS, Wang Ying, Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group of the Jilin Provincial Academy of Social Sciences (Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences), Li Minrong, Chairman of the China Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation Center (CISTE), Huang Renwei, Executive Vice Dean of the Fudan Institute of Belt and Road & Global Governance (BRGG) and former Vice President of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and Professor Tang Yongsheng, Major General of the National Security College of the China People's Liberation Army National Defence University, Wang Shengjin, Eminent Professor in Philosophy and Social Sciences, former Vice Chairman of University Council and vice president of JLU, Zhang Fugui, Eminent Professor in Philosophy and Social Sciences, Bing Zheng, Deputy Director of the University Council of JLU, former Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of JLU, and other famous experts and scholars. Cai Lidong, Member of CPC Standing Committee of JLU and Vice President of JLU, delivered an opening speech at the forum, which was presided over by Han Xiping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of JLU and Dean of the Institute For Northeast China and Northeast Asian Studies of JLU.

With the theme on overall revitalization of northeast China and peaceful development of northeast China under the new situation, this forum sets up a general forum and two sub-forums in a combination of online and face-to-face options. The general forum consists of keynote speeches and theme reports, with the themes of the two sub-forums being "New Breakthroughs in the Overall Revitalization of Northeast China during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period" and "Peace and Development in Northeast Asia under the New Situation."
The forum gathered nearly 150 domestic experts and scholars from universities and research institutions such as Renmin University of China, Fudan University, China People's Liberation Army National Defence University, Shanghai University, Beijing Technology and Business University, Northeastern University, Institute of Chinese Borderland Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Institute of Japanese Studies of CASS, Tianjin Academy of Social Sciences, Heilongjiang Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, Jilin Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, the China Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation Center (CISTE), the Chahar Institute, Jilin University.
The high-end forum on Northeast and Northeast Asia is a brand think-tank forum created by the Institute for Northeast China and Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University and will be held regularly, aiming to build a high-level policy research dialogue and exchange platform for government, industry, academia and research coordination and cooperation around the major issues of Northeast China's revitalization strategy and the peace and development of Northeast Asia, and collect intelligence and strength for serving the major strategic decisions of the party and the country.
