On April 23rd, 2022, the Northeast Asian Research Center, Northeast Asian Studies College, and the Institute of Korean Peninsular Studies of Jilin University successfully held an international academic conference online on the theme of Foreign Policy Prospects of the New Korean Government and the Direction of Sino- South Korea Relations.
Professor Zhang Huizhi, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asian Research Center and Director of the Institute of Korean Peninsular Studies of Jilin University, presided over the opening ceremony, and Professor Wu Hao, Dean of the Northeast Asian Studies College at Jilin University, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Nearly 20 experts and scholars from the Korea Institute for National Unification, Sejong Institute, Asiatic Studies Institute of Korea University, Institute for Far Eastern Studies (IFES) at Kyungnam University, Department of Political Science & Diplomacy at Ewha Womans University, Institute of Korean-American Studies of Ajou University, Institute of American Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Center for Korean Studies of Fudan University, School of Northeast Asia Studies of Shandong University, Northeast Asian Studies College and Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University and other institutions attended the conference. The conference had in-depth exchanges on three topics, including The Situation on The Peninsula After the New Korean Government Took Office, The New Korean Government's Foreign Policy, and Challenges and Prospects for China-South Korea Relations, and achieved positive results.
The Korean Peninsula issue is the characteristic and advantageous field of international issues research of Jilin University. The conference brought together the main institutions and many experts and scholars in the field of Korean Peninsula issue research in China and South Korea, and the participating scholars highly evaluated the effect of the conference and expressed that they would continue to develop close cooperation with the Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University, Northeast Asian Studies College and the Institute of Korean Peninsular Studies to jointly promote the research on related issues.
