In order to reinforce the research on Northeast Asian’s politics, economy and history, push forward the Northeast Asia regional cooperation, and promote regional peace, development and prosperity, the Center for Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University was founded in Oct. 1999, on the basis of Northeast Asian Studies College. Many excellent researchers in world economics, international politics and Northeast Asian history joined the center. In Dec. 1000, the Center for Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University was selected to be “Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences in University” with the approval of Ministry of Education, one of the 15 institutes in its first batch. In 2003 and 2009, the Center for Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University was inspected by Ministry of Education, and was awarded “Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences in University in Excellence” in Nov. 2009.
