In order to better serve the national diplomatic strategies and promote strategic cooperation between China and Mongolia, Jilin University relied on the Northeast Asian Studies College to establish the Institute of Mongolian Studies in December 2011. The Institute of Mongolian Studies closely combines the actual needs of the country and the locality, strengthens cooperation with the government and enterprises, organizes relevant experts and scholars inside and outside Jilin University, and focuses on conducting interdisciplinary comprehensive research on Mongolia's economics, politics, population and social development. Research has been carried out in the fields of Mongolia’s economic development, China-Mongolia economic and trade relations and regional cooperation, Mongolia’s mineral resources development, Mongolia’s population and social development, Mongolia’s politics and diplomacy. Their unremitting endeavor has produced a number of influential high-level research achievements, which contribute to the national diplomatic strategies and provide meaningful advices for economic cooperation with foreign capitals.
