Jilin University has a long history of Russian studies, and it is the key research field and dominant research interest of the Northeast Asian Research Center. In the field of Russian research, the Center focuses on studies of Sino-Russian regional cooperation and Russian modern history, and has established a mature high-level research team. Over the years, more than hundreds of papers have been published in high-level research journals at home and abroad, and a large number of signed and approved research reports have been published in "Historical Research", "World History", "History Monthly", "Contemporary Asia Pacific", "Northeast Asia Forum" and other professional authorities. More than 60 papers have been published in the journals, and more than 20 papers and translations have been reprinted in full text by "Xinhua Digest". Institute of Russian Studies undertakes 1 significant project and 9 common projects of the National Social Science Fund. More than dozens of high-level international academic conferences have been held. Among them, the Sino-Russian International Academic Conference on “the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Second World War in Resistance against Japanes Invasion” has received congratulatory letters from Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and has achieved extensive influence at home and abroad. Institute of Russian Studies has always been in a very close academic relation with Russian scholars, especially with the History Department of Moscow University. In 2016, Jilin University and Moscow University jointly established the Russian History Research Center, focusing on the scientific rationality and application of theories in international academic contexts. It has reached long-term cooperative relations with many well-known Russian universities and think tanks, and has made irreplaceable contributions to the advancement of China’s research on Russian issues and to the construction of think tanks.
