On April 22, 2026, invited by the Center for Northeast Asian Studies and the School of Social Sciences of Jilin University, Professor Kirill Babaev, Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia under the Russian Academy of Sciences and Vice Chairman of the Russia-China Friendship Association, delivered an academic lecture titled The Foundation and Prospects of Russia-China Friendship in Dongrong Building.

Dean Wu Hao stated in his opening address that this invitation is not only recognition of Professor Babaev’s personal academic achievements, but also acknowledgement of the long-standing fruitful cooperation between the Northeast Asian Studies Academy of Jilin University and the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Both sides will continue to deepen academic exchanges and practical collaboration in the future, contributing academic insights and practical support to the development of the China-Russia New Era Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

Following the awarding ceremony, Professor Babaev presented the special lecture. He pointed out that Russia-China relations are currently at their best stage in history. The two countries have forged a high-level comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership featuring all-round and in-depth cooperation covering politics, economy, culture and other fields.

During the Q&A session, teachers and students raised active questions regarding the development trajectory of bilateral ties, practical economic and trade cooperation, youth academic exchanges and historical research, to which Professor Babaev provided thorough responses amid a vibrant atmosphere.

This lecture offered an authoritative perspective for faculty and students to understand the evolution of China-Russia comprehensive strategic coordination. It also bears great significance for deepening the school’s cooperation with top Russian think tanks and boosting academic exchanges between young Chinese and Russian scholars.
