International Academic Conference on Reconstructing China-South Korea Mutual Trust Against New Shifts in Northeast Asian Security Situations Held at Jilin University

On November 22, 2025, the international academic conferenceReconstructing China-South Korea Mutual Trust Against New Shifts in Northeast Asian Security Situationstook place at Jilin University. Co-hosts were the Northeast Asian Studies Center of Jilin University, the DPRK-ROK Research Institute of Jilin University, the School of Northeast Asia of Shandong University, the Institute of Asian Studies at Korea University, and the Graduate School of International Studies at Chung-Ang University.

Over 20 scholars from five research institutions including Jilin University, Shandong University, Korea University, Chung-Ang University and the National Defense University of the Republic of Korea attended and engaged in in-depth discussions. During panel sessions, participants held extensive heated exchanges around three core topics: new shifts in Northeast Asian security situations, new ideas for China-South Korea economic cooperation, and new paths to building China-South Korea mutual trust.

Scholars unanimously agreed that amid multiple challenges facing China-South Korea relations, intensified academic exchanges and cooperation between the two countries are particularly vital. Sustained regular dialogue and communication will not only underpin the sound and stable development of China-South Korea relations but also exert far-reaching positive impacts on advancing peace and stability across Northeast Asia.
