On November 21, 2025, Researcher Kim Dongchan and his delegation from the Institute of China Studies, Yonsei University, visited the Northeast Asian Studies Center of Jilin University and held an academic forum themed “The Korean Peninsula and China in Trump’s Second Term: Pursuing Peace and Stability” with the Center’s DPRK-ROK Research Team.
Co-hosted by Professor Zhang Huizhi, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asian Studies Center and Director of the DPRK-ROK Research Institute, and Researcher Kim Dongchan, the forum featured online opening remarks by Professor Kim Hyeoncheol, Dean of the Institute of China Studies at Yonsei University, and Professor Han Seokhee, Executive Vice Dean of the same institute.
Participating scholars conducted in-depth, heated discussions on two core themes: regional security dynamics amid shocks to the international order, and comparisons of China-South Korea industrial and economic policies in the new era, covering strategic, military and economic issues of mutual concern.
Attendees included Professor Zhang Huizhi, Professor Wang Xiaoke, Professor Xu Bo, Associate Professor Kim Xiangdan and Teacher Kim Huizhen from Jilin University; as well as Researcher Kim Dongchan from Yonsei University’s Institute of China Studies, Researcher Mun Jiyoung from the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, Professor Jang Youngdeok from the Institute of International Relations at the Republic of Korea Air Force Academy, and Professor Han Donggyun from the School of Economics and Management at Hannam University.
