From July 3 to 6, 2025, Professor Zhang Huizhi, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asian Research Center, led a delegation of nine scholars on a visit to the Republic of Korea. They attended the 9th China-ROK Symposium on Northeast China Cooperation hosted by the China Research Center at Dongseo University**, and engaged in academic exchanges with experts and scholars from the Korea National Diplomatic Academy, the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, Jeju National University, Dongduk Women’s University, Changwon National University, and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, among other institutions. The delegation included Vice Deans Cui Jian and Zhao Yang of the Northeast Asian Studies College, as well as **Professors Chen Zhiheng, Lian Xiaomei, Li Tianzi, and Wang Xiaoke, Associate Professors Jin Xiangdan and Zhou Kuo**, who also presented remarks during the conference.

Under the theme “Turning Points in the Northeast Asian Situation and China-ROK Cooperation,”** the symposium featured addresses by **Shin Jung-seung, Director of the East Asia Institute at Dongseo University and former ROK Ambassador to China, Chen Ribiao, Chinese Consul General in Busan, and Professor Zhang Huizhi, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asian Research Center at Jilin University. More than 20 Chinese and ROK experts and scholars held in-depth discussions on three major topics: “China-US Relations and the US-ROK Alliance in Trump’s Second Term,” “The Korean Peninsula Situation,” and “Busan-Northeast China Cooperation.”** The event fostered consensus, clarified differences, and yielded positive outcomes.
This symposium marks theninth academic exchange activity jointly organized by the Northeast Asian Research Center, the Northeast Asian Studies College, and the China Research Center at Dongseo University since the signing of their cooperation agreement, reflecting the deepening bilateral exchange mechanism.Director Shin Jung-seung and Deputy Director Zhang Huizhi jointly expressed their commitment to sustaining bilateral academic cooperation and pooling intellectual and academic resources to support the development of China-ROK relations and regional peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
