From June 3 to 8, 2025, Professor Ba Dianjun, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asian Research Center, together with Professor Xu Bo and faculty members Narina, Jin Huizhen and Jing Jing from the School of Northeast Asian Studies, visited Mongolia. They attended the 10th Ulaanbaatar Dialogue International Conference on Northeast Asian Security, and held multiple high-level academic activities on regional security, think tank cooperation and China-Mongolia relations at the invitation of relevant Mongolian institutions.

This marks the second time the school's delegation has participated in the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia. The event gathered over 230 diplomats, experts and institutional representatives from more than 40 countries and regions. Participants exchanged views on Northeast Asian security challenges and opportunities, multilateral cooperation, climate change and security issues, regional ties between Northeast Asia and Central Asia, as well as energy and climate challenges in Northeast Asia. Professor Xu Bo delivered an English speech entitled China-Russia Cooperation in Central Asia amid Major Changes in the International Order in the session on Northeast Asia-Central Asia regional cooperation, which won wide acclaim from fellow scholars. During the conference, delegation members shared insights on the Northeast Asian security landscape, regional cooperation and common development, and engaged in in-depth exchanges with representatives from various countries. They demonstrated the academic commitment of Jilin University scholars to supporting China's neighborhood diplomacy and safeguarding regional peace and stability.

Beyond the conference sessions, the delegation paid visits to the Institute of International Relations of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and the School of Political Science, International Relations and Public Administration of the National University of Mongolia. Both sides held in-depth discussions on China-Mongolia relations, joint research projects, co-hosting of academic events and faculty & student exchanges, and reached a number of preliminary agreements on closer think tank cooperation and academic exchanges.

As a key national policy research institution, the Institute of International Relations of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences has long been engaged in studies on Northeast Asian situations and China-Mongolia cooperation. The School of Political Science, International Relations and Public Administration of the National University of Mongolia enjoys great academic influence and plays a vital role in talent training across Mongolia. This visit has deepened mutual trust and cooperation between the two sides and laid a solid foundation for establishing long-term and stable cooperative mechanisms.

The visit is an important move for Jilin University to align with national diplomatic strategies and advance high-level international exchanges and cooperation. Going forward, the School of Northeast Asian Studies and the Northeast Asian Research Center will keep leveraging disciplinary strengths and think tank capabilities to serve China's neighborhood diplomacy and regional development strategies.
