On May 17, 2025, Professor Chen Xiancai, Director of the Taiwan Research Center of Xiamen University, led a delegation to conduct a research visit to the Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University. Professor Ba Dianjun, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asian Research Center and Director of the Institute of International Politics, presided over the symposium. Professor Wang Xiaoke, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Politics, together with several doctoral and master’s students, participated in the discussion.


During the symposium, Professor Ba Dianjun and Professor Chen Xiancai conducted in-depth exchanges on the construction of Key Research Bases for Humanities and Social Sciences under the Ministry of Education, the disciplinary development of regional and country studies, and key future research directions. The two sides also discussed feasible approaches to furthering academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation.

In the following session, Professor Wang Xiaoke exchanged views with the visiting scholars on the situations of the Korean Peninsula and the Taiwan Strait. Lin Yuexian, Secretary-General of the Cross-Strait Integration and Unification Laboratory, Tang Ruoyan, Research Secretary, and Xu Chonghua, Research Assistant from the Taiwan Research Center of Xiamen University, also shared their research progress and practical work experience respectively.
Founded in January 2001, the Taiwan Research Center of Xiamen University was accredited as a Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences by the Ministry of Education. It has maintained sound academic ties with the Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University for many years. This research visit serves as a valuable opportunity for both sides to further deepen bilateral cooperation.
