On April 25,2025, the "China-Russia Young Scholars Forum Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union, and the World Anti-Fascist War," jointly organized by the China and Modern Asia Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Northeast and Northeast Asia Research Institute of Jilin University, the Northeast Asia Research Institute of Jilin University, the Northeast Asia Research Center of Jilin University, and the Social Sciences Research Institute of Jilin University, was successfully held in Moscow.

The theme of this forum was "Promoting a Correct Historical Perspective and Upholding International Justice." More than 50 renowned experts and scholars from China and Russia gathered to engage in in-depth discussions on major issues such as jointly safeguarding the achievements of World War II, promoting the great spirit of resistance, and advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Professor Han Xiping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jilin University; Professor Kirill Babayev, Director of the Institute of China and Modern Asia at the Russian Academy of Sciences; and Galina Kulikova, First Vice Chairperson of the Russia-China Friendship Association and recipient of the "Medal of Friendship" of the People's Republic of China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
This forum has received significant attention and support from the foreign ministries of both China and Russia. Zhang Hanhui, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Russian Federation, and Andrei Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, each sent congratulatory letters to the forum. Zhao Wei, Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Russian Federation, and Alexander Kozlov, Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation,attended the opening ceremony and read out their congratulatory messages.

In his congratulatory letter, Zhang Hanhui stated that the people of China and Russia fought side by side and shared life and death during the Anti-Fascist War, making indelible contributions to the cause of human peace. The profound friendship forged through bloodshed between the two nations during that war has endured over time, becoming a spiritual bond passed down through generations among their peoples.

In his congratulatory letter, Andrei Rudenko stated that the combat camaraderie and tradition of mutual assistance of that era have laid a solid foundation for contemporary Russia-China relations.

Galina Kulikova stated in her speech that this forum holds significant importance for enhancing exchanges between young scholars from China and Russia, and it will undoubtedly promote a deeper understanding of China by Russia and other countries, as well as strengthen cooperation between the two nations in addressing major global and regional issues.
Sun Zhuangzhi, Director of the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Sergey Uyanayev, Deputy Director of the China and Modern Asia Institute at the Russian Academy of Sciences and Vice Chairman of the Russia-China Friendship Association; Wu Hao, Dean of the Northeast Asia College and Northeast Asia Research Institute at Jilin University; Yuri Kulintsev, Deputy Director of the China and Modern Asia Institute at the Russian Academy of Sciences; Liu Xinjun, Director of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army Research Center at Jilin University; and Liu Xianzhong, Head of the Russian History Research Office at the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered keynote speeches at the conference respectively.
More than 30 young scholars from domestic and international universities and research institutions, including Jilin University, the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow State University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Russian Higher School of Economics, Federal University of Finance and Economics of the Russian Federation, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Fudan University, and Shanghai Institute of International Studies, delivered insightful presentations and engaged in lively discussions on two major themes: "Historical experiences and contemporary issues regarding the preservation of World War II achievements" and "The contributions of Russia and China to safeguarding the postwar world order." They reached broad consensus on preserving the outcomes of the global anti-fascist war and on strengthening Sino-Russian cooperation in maintaining international order.
At the forum's closing ceremony, Wu Hao and Researcher Sergei Uyanayev delivered concluding remarks respectively, highly commending the insightful presentations and substantial outcomes of the discussions among participating experts. Both emphasized the need to institutionalize the China-Russia Young Scholars Forum, jointly establishing a long-term, high-level platform for academic exchange between the two countries, and fully leveraging its role in implementing the consensus reached by the heads of state of China and Russia, advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between the two nations in the new era, and promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries.
This conference marks the second China-Russia Young Scholars Forum jointly organized by Jilin University and the Russian Academy of Sciences. Its successful convening has not only enhanced exchanges among researchers from both countries in areas such as historical understanding, Sino-Russian relations, and the evolution of the international order, but also provided crucial intellectual support for jointly upholding international fairness and justice and advancing the development of a new type of international relations.
