On April 24, 2025, while attending the Sino-Russian Young Scholars Forum, Professor Han Xiping, Deputy Party Secretary of Jilin University, led a delegation to visit the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The delegation met with Professor Kirill Babaev, Director of the institute and Vice President of the Russia-China Friendship Association, and conducted in-depth discussions on promoting all-round exchanges and cooperation between Jilin University and theinstitute.

Leaders of the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences first introduced the institute’s development history and academic achievements in detail. Professor Han Xiping remarked that the institute serves as a core hub for Russian sinology research. It has long made important contributions to advancing China-Russia friendly cooperation and enjoys a high reputation in international sinological studies and the dissemination of Chinese culture.

During the meeting, Director Babaev extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Deputy Party Secretary Han Xiping. He pointed out that Jilin University stands as one of the most important international partners of the institute. Both sides have yielded a number of internationally influential research outcomes under the cooperative framework, making remarkable contributions to China-Russia people-to-people and cultural cooperation.
Professor Han Xiping stated that Jilin University has long been committed to regional and country studies and has achieved fruitful results in research on Russian issues and China-Russia relations. As a leading Russian think tank specializing in China and Asian studies, the institute will continue to engage in pragmatic and in-depth cooperation with Jilin University in the future.

Relevant representatives from the School of Northeast Asian Studies, the Northeast Asian Research Institute, and the Northeast and Northeast Asian Research Institute of Jilin University participated in the event.
