On November 6, 2023, the China-Russia International Symposium themed "Regional Cooperation between Northeast China and the Russian Far East: Current Situation and Development" was successfully co-hosted by the Northeast Asia Research Center of Jilin University, the Institute of Oriental Studies of Far Eastern Federal University, the School of Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University and the Institute of Russian Studies of Jilin University. More than ten experts and scholars from the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University and the Institute of Oriental Studies of Far Eastern Federal University held in-depth exchanges and discussions centering on the theme.

The symposium focused on two subtopics: "Changes in the Situation on the Korean Peninsula and Russia-DPRK Relations" and "Development of the Russian Far East and China-Russia Relations". Participating experts and scholars carried out comprehensive and thorough discussions on relevant issues. During special presentations, Chinese and Russian scholars unanimously agreed that China and Russia boast broad room for cooperation. The two sides should strengthen practical cooperation in politics, economy, people-to-people exchanges and other fields in the future, and jointly advance the alignment between the development strategy of the Russian Far East and the Northeast Revitalization Strategy of China.

Professor Ba Dianjun, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asia Research Center of Jilin University, and Professor Artyom Lukin, Executive Dean of the Institute of Oriental Studies of Far Eastern Federal University, delivered closing remarks for the symposium. Professor Wu Hao, Dean of the School of Northeast Asian Studies and the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University, expressed sincere gratitude once again to Professor Lukin and other Russian scholars for their support to the conference in his closing speech. He stated that the two institutions will carry out sustained and in-depth exchanges and cooperation, and elevate research capacity and talent training quality through high-level collaborative programs.

This event marks a regular academic conference jointly organized by the Northeast Asia Research Center, the School of Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University and the Institute of Oriental Studies of Far Eastern Federal University. The School of Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University and the Institute of Oriental Studies of Far Eastern Federal University will continue to deepen academic collaboration, contributing to academic research, people-to-people exchanges and friendly ties between China and Russia.
