"The Northeast Asia Development Report" is a series of works sponsored by the Philosophy and Social Science Development Report Project of the Ministry of Education and compiled by Professor Wang Shengjin, the director of the Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University and the senior professor of humanities and social sciences. The series was officially published by Jilin University Press in 2013.
At the beginning of 2012, the international situation experienced ups and downs, and the world structure experienced the most profound revolutions and adjustments since the 2008 Global Economic Crisis. There was fierce competition among major powers for the formulation of global and regional rules; the overall weakness of the world economy has increased downward pressure and the lack of new economic growth points; the polarization between the rich and the poor in advanced economies has increased, and the emerging economies are developing in twists and turns; extremist trends spread, traditional security issues and non-traditional security issues are intertwined and the regional security situation has deteriorated; the role of the "double-edged sword" of globalization has become prominent, the momentum of isolationism and conservatism has increased, and "black swan" incidents have occurred frequently. The international situation maintains an overall balance and local turbulent development.
Under the above-mentioned background, countries in Northeast Asia are also experiencing a situation where the political situation is generally stable, the economy is facing challenges, security issues continue to ferment, and the people's livelihood is deeply adjusted. In terms of the political situation, Northeast Asian countries maintained a relatively stable situation, bilateral relations have twists and turns. The situation on the Korean Peninsula has continued to be tense, and new variables have been added due to the introduction of THAAD in South Korea. The relationship has maintained a momentum of continued development, but multilateral cooperation represented by China-Japan-Korea cooperation continued to stagnate. The strong promotion of TTP by the United States has a differentiation effect on regional economic cooperation; the overall population and social development tend to be stable, and the population was aging. The problem has become a common social problem in all countries.
In general, the issue of peaceful development in Northeast Asia still has a long way to go. To this end, the Northeast Asia Research Center of Jilin University, a key research base for humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, organized relevant experts and scholars to compile the Northeast Asia Regional Development Report (2012) and the Northeast Asia Regional Development Report ( 2016-2017) ", continue to strive to provide a basic, systematic, comprehensive and scientific information platform and academic resources for domestic and foreign policy makers and researchers. In-depth research on Northeast Asia issues has provided all walks of life with theoretical discussions on comprehensively promoting Northeast Asia issues.
