This book is a research outcome of the Jilin University Interdisciplinary Research Base Project on China's Policy Adjustment to the Korean Peninsula in the Post-THAAD Era undertaken by Associate Professor Zhang Yanzhe of the Northeast Asian Research Center, and also a phased achievement of the author's research on international issues in Northeast Asia, especially the Korean Peninsula.
The book is divided into three parts: Economic Development in North Korea, Economic Development in South Korea, and Economic Development and Cooperation Prospects on the Korean Peninsula. In the North Korea chapter, the economic development strategies, policies and their effects in each period, the process and effectiveness of economic reform and transformation, the policies and achievements of economic cooperation with foreign countries, and the problems existing in economic development are mainly studied. In the Korean chapter, the economic policies and effects before the financial crisis, the economic reforms and effects after the financial crisis, the strategies and policies of South Korea's foreign economic cooperation and their achievements, the Free Trade Area Strategy of South Korea, and the problems existing in Korea's economic development are mainly discussed. This book is a systematic research of the economy of the Korean Peninsula in English. The economic development of North Korea and South Korea is systematically studied, covering domestic economic strategies, economic policies, foreign economic strategies and policies, and problems existing in economic development in each period, and at the end of it, the economic development and cooperation of the Korean Peninsula are prospected.
