On April 23rd, 2021, Professor Ning Fujui, former Ambassador to Korea, Ambassador to Thailand, and Director of the China Institute of International Studies, was invited by the Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University to give a lecture entitled Observation and Prospects of the Current Situation on the Korean Peninsula at the Dongrong Building. More than 60 teachers and students from the Northeast Asian Studies College and other colleges of Jilin University came to the packed house. The conference was hosted by Professor Zhang Huizhi, Deputy Director of Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University.

In the lecture, Professor Ning Fukui first briefly reviewed the history of North Korea-U.S. dialogue, and analyzed the current international situation from multiple perspectives, such as the future U.S. policy framework towards North Korea, North Korea's response measures, South Korea's attempt to promote North Korea-U.S. dialogue, and China's insistence on persuading peace and promoting talks, and deeply analyzed his views and prospects on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Professor Ning Fujikui noted that the U.S. policy toward the North Korea is likely to be dynamic, with the U.S. adjusting according to changes in the form of the peninsula, the outcome of U.S.-North Korea interactions, and the needs of U.S. interests. The North Korea side hopes that the North Korea-U.S. dialogue can effectively address the North Korea's concerns, otherwise it is also prepared that the U.S. will impose long-term sanctions on it. On the South Korean side, it is difficult to fully follow the footsteps of the United States, and the South Korean government hopes to push for a break in the stalemate on the peninsula. China is determined to maintain peace and stability on the peninsula and has always insisted on a political solution to the peninsula issue, hoping that all parties will actively consider a phased solution to the denuclearization of the peninsula. In addition, Professor Ning Fujikui talked about the current status of China-South Korea relations and how China and South Korea should actively cooperate and adhere to common ideas on the denuclearization of the peninsula in order to promote a peaceful solution to the peninsula issue.

Finally, Professor Zhang Huizhi, Deputy Director of Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University, summarized the relevant content, and scholars and students interacted with Professor Ning Fukui on the content of the lecture, and the lecture ended successfully.
