The Northeast Asian Studies College was established on the principles of promoting the development of interdisciplinary integration, cultivating international compound talents, and building new liberal arts with Jilin University characters. On the morning of April 27th, the opening ceremony of the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University (JLU) and the Northeast Asian Research and Talent Cultivation Symposium were held in Dongrong Building, Central Campus. Jiang Zhiying, Secretary of the Party Committee of JLU, and Zhang Xi, Academician and President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, jointly unveiled the plaque for the college. Wang Shengjin, Eminent Professor in Philosophy and Social Sciences, and more than 400 other teachers and students witnessed this historical moment. The ceremony was presided over by Wang Lifeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of JLU.
At about 8:40 a.m., as the host announced the establishment of the Northeast Asian Studies College of JLU, Jiang Zhiying and Zhang Xi jointly unveiled the nameplate for it among the warm applause.
Zhang Xi, on behalf of JLU, and Secretary Jiang Zhiying congratulated on the establishment of the college, fully affirmed the achievements of the Institute for Northeast Asian Studies of JLU, the predecessor of the college, in recent years, and expressed heartfelt thanks to the alumni, experts and scholars who care about education and support the construction and development of Northeast Asian Studies College.
At the ceremony, Vice President Cai Lidong presented the decision of the Party Committee of JLU on the establishment of the Party Committee of Northeast Asian Studies College and Northeast Asian Studies College of JLU and related personnel. More than 110 sister universities, research institutions and societies at home and abroad sent congratulatory letters.
The ceremony was accompanied by an alumni donation. Wang Guanhong, outstanding alumnus of the Northeast Asian Studies College of JLU and Chairman of Global Brand Management, and Zhao Yang, associate professor of the Northeast Asian Studies College, delivered speeches as alumni and faculty representatives respectively. Wu Hao, Dean of Northeast Asia College, made a speech at the meeting.
After the ceremony, participating experts and scholars held special discussions on topics such as Northeast Asian Research and Talent Cultivation.
The ceremony gathered Jilin University's party and government departments, directly subordinate management institutions, group organizations, directly subordinate service organizations, heads of relevant colleges and some former leaders, senior teachers, teachers and student representatives of the Northeast Asian Studies College.
