The article Research on Russian History in 20th Century China (Изучение истории России в Китае вXXв.) is an A&HCI paper published in August 2019 in Russian History by Professor Zhang Guangxiang of the Northeast Asian Research Center, who introduces the results of Chinese research on Russian history to the historiography of Russia and the rest of the world. Taking the founding of New China as the boundary, the author divides the study of Russian history in China into two major stages, and looks forward to the future study of Russian history in China. Before the founding of New China, the study of Russian history was mainly based on the study of general history, but research institutions and academic journals have appeared, and the research of Russian history during this period paid more attention to practical significance due to the political situation at home and abroad. After the founding of New China until the mid-1860s, Chinese scholars made great progress in the study of Russian history by combining traditional methods of historical research with Marxism-Leninism. However, due to changes in the social situation, the study of Russian history in China tended to stagnate between 1966 and 1979. After the reform and opening up, the policy of "emancipation of the mind" gave researchers a certain degree of scientific freedom, and the study of Russian history in China began to make a fresh start, and with the help of modernization theories, the study of Russian history in China gradually broke away from the old dogmatic research. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the beginning of good-neighborly relations between Russia and China, the study of Russian history in China entered a take-off stage: academic exchanges between Russia and China became frequent, academic institutions expanded, the situation of personnel training improved, and a large number of translations and academic achievements appeared. On this basis, the author provides an outlook on the future research of Russian history in China and offers his insights and opinions on the future development of Russian history in China.
