On August 21st, the 2021 forum on the peace and development in Northeast Asia was held in Changchun. Yu Hongjun, former Vice Minister of the International Department, Central Committee of CPC, Cheng Yonghua, former Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Japan, Professor Andrey Gubin, Head of the Asia-Pacific Center of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies, Professor Koh Yuhwan, President of the Korea Institute for National Unification, Professor Kereid Bayasakh, Head of the Institute of International Relations of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, Professor Shuji Matsuno, President of the Japan’s Association of Northeast Asia Regional Studies, Professor Yang Bojiang, Head of the Institute of Japanese Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Researcher Liu Qing, Vice President of the China Institute of International Studies, Professor Guo Lianqiang, Vice President of Jilin Academy of Social Sciences, and other well-known Northeast Asian experts at home and abroad attended the opening ceremony, and Wang Shengjin, Director of the Northeast Asian Research Center of JLU and Eminent Professor in Philosophy and Social Sciences, and other renowned Northeast Asian experts at home and abroad attended the forum.
Zhang Xi, President of JLU and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the meeting and delivered an opening remark. Professor Cai Lidong, Vice President of JLU, presided over the opening ceremony.
Former Vice Minister Yu Hongjun delivered a keynote speech entitled "Northeast Revitalization Should Face Great Changes and Base on Dual Circulation."
Former Ambassador Cheng Yonghua delivered a keynote speech on enhancing mutual trust, deepening cooperation and promoting common development.
Professor Andrey Gubin,Professor Koh Yuhwan, Professor Bayasakh, Professor Shuji Matsuno and Professor Yang Bojiang gave keynote speeches respectively. More than 70 well-known experts from the Institute of Japanese Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the China Institute of International Studies, the Heilongjiang Academy of Social Sciences, the Jilin Academy of Social Sciences, the Liaoning Academy of Social Sciences, the Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Shandong University, Dalian University of Technology, Shanghai University, Inner Mongolia University, Liaoning University, Yanbian University, Hunan Normal University, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, Beihua University, Liaodong University, Tumenjiang Association for International Economic Cooperation in Jilin province and Jilin University attended the meeting.
Since 1997, Jilin University has held 10 consecutive international forums on the peace and development in Northeast Asia, which has become an important academic exchange platform in the field of Northeast Asian issues. Jilin University decided to restart the forum, hold a high-level international academic conference every year and a series of seminars, and strive to build a high-end academic exchange platform for the study of national and regional issues in Northeast Asia, help encourage international and domestic academic exchanges, and promote peace and development in Northeast Asia.
